Concrete Removal and Rip Ups

A rip up is cutting an existing slab into sections small enough to be lifted out. Superior Cut saws the concrete into manageable pieces along clean, straight lines, so the section coming out lifts away without cracking or dragging the concrete that is staying.

That matters most at the join. If an old driveway is broken out with a hammer, the edge left behind is ragged, and the new concrete poured against it has nothing square to sit on. A sawn edge gives your concreter a clean face to pour to, which is why most of our rip up work comes on recommendation from concreters rather than straight from the homeowner.

We cut. You will need a bobcat, excavator or truck to cart the concrete away. Plenty of customers line the two up on the same day so the site is clear by knock off. If you are keeping part of the slab, the same concrete cutting approach gives you a square line to work back from, and if the old surface is sound but tired, pattern cutting is a cheaper option than replacing it.

Concrete Removal FAQs

Do you take the concrete away as well?

No, we cut it. Removing and carting the concrete needs a bobcat, an excavator or a tipper depending on the volume, and most customers book that separately for the same day.

Why cut a slab instead of just breaking it up?

Two reasons. Cut sections lift out whole, so the removal is faster and there is far less mess to clean up. And a sawn edge leaves a clean, square face for the new concrete to be poured against, where a broken edge leaves a ragged join that tends to crack again in the same place.

Can you cut out part of a driveway and leave the rest?

Yes, that is a lot of what we do. We saw a straight line where you want the new work to start, cut the section behind it into liftable pieces, and leave the concrete you are keeping untouched and square at the join.

How thick a slab can you cut?

Domestic driveways and paths are usually straightforward. Thicker commercial and industrial slabs, reinforced concrete and heavily meshed slabs are all normal work for us, we just match the saw to the depth. Tell us roughly how thick it is when you enquire and we will confirm.

How much notice do you need?

It depends on the week and where you are. Give us your dates when you get in touch and we will tell you honestly what we can do rather than book you in and push you back.
